Spotter Platform: 2025 Highlights
New sensors, redesigned dashboard, and enhanced reliability—see what we built in 2025.

New Sensing Capabilities for Smart Mooring
2025 was a big year for the Spotter platform. We added new sensing capabilities, overhauled the dashboard experience, and made dozens of under-the-hood improvements to reliability and performance—all while our customer community continued to grow in meaningful ways.
None of this happens without your feedback and partnership. Here's a look at what we built together.
We expanded what Smart Mooring can measure with three new sensors:
Dissolved Oxygen Sensor
A Bristlemouth-native dissolved oxygen sensor — complete with an integrated wiper to reduce biofouling — now available for Smart Mooring deployments. This enables long-term water quality monitoring without drift or manual cleaning.

A New Dashboard Experience
The New Spotter Dashboard
We completely redesigned the Spotter dashboard — the biggest update since launch. The new experience is faster, cleaner, and built to scale with your Spotter network. We've been rolling it out gradually since late 2025, with all customers getting access by the end of January.
Highlights include:
- Large fleet performance: Smooth navigation and visualization even with 100+ devices
- New subsurface data support: View dissolved oxygen, salinity, and acoustic data alongside your wave and metocean observations.
- Shareable deep links: Send colleagues a link to a specific device, time range, or data view — no more screenshots
- Mobile and tablet improvements: Manage deployments from the field

Hardware & Platform Reliability
Behind the scenes, we made significant updates to the foundation of the Spotter platform.
Updated Smart Mooring nodes now feature a more modular and flexible architecture, making it easier to change payloads and integrate new sensors as your monitoring needs change.

Firmware Improvements
We shipped multiple firmware updates throughout the year focused on reliability, connectivity, and ease of deployment:
- Improved sea surface temperature (SST) resilience and more reliable data transmission during submergence
- Over-the-air (OTA) updates for Bristlemouth-connected nodes
- Unified firmware installer across all Spotter Versions, including subsurface payloads
- External SIM support, expanding cellular connectivity to new regions including South Korea, India, and the Philippines
